This week I talk to Olly Gibson an average Joe just like you and me who enjoys the hobby but also has his YouTube channel Liberum Esse where he posts his thoughts. I will let Olly tell you what this means in due course. The show was a run rambly chat as it should be and covers a wide variety of things. It was great speaking to him and it is people like Olly that have made, will make, and currently make my experience in this hobby a positive one. In this episode we talk about what he has been up to since our last chat, we poke about the diverse set of games and activities he has been up to with some huge and well known IP’s, and we also talk about what he thinks makes a good game. I am really enjoying revisiting previous podcast guests and asking them what they think makes a good game. Both Lardy Rich and Joseph McCollough have been on recently with their opinions and it has been so interesting to hear their opinions. Episode 140: Joseph McCullough (What Makes a Good Game?)

This week I speak once again to Joseph McCullough the creator of Frostgrave, Rangers of Shadow Deep,and Oathmark to name just 3. In this show we talk about what has been happening with him since we last spoke in episode 106, we also talk about his opinion on what makes a good game. He highlights the holy trinity that may be at odds with each other. If you haven’t heard from Joseph before I recommend going back to episode 66 for our first chat, then to 106, and then this one. Reason being is that in my first chats with people I tend to get to know them and their history. Subsequent ones we refer back to that but delve deeper into subjects.

This week I speak to Stuart of Great Escape Games. Great Escape Games not only offers a wide variety of interesting rule sets such as Dead Man’s Hand, a western style skirmish game, Iron Cross, 1914, Seven Days to the River Rhine, all table top war games in a variety of eras, but they also offer miniatures in ranges that may not be offered by other companies in the eras we play. Romanians, Mountain Italian Alpini, Greek Mountain troops to name 3 such ranges from the WW2 era.

Episode 138: Carl T (Contact Front)

This week I speak to Carl Titterington who is just at this very moment releasing his first rule set called Contact Front. Contact Front is a modern skirmish rule set and during the show Carl talks about it and why it may appeal to you if you are into that sort of thing. As with other shows we also delve into Carl’s background and his journey towards creating his own rule set, it is one that is varied and interesting. Episode 136: Joe V (Steel & Steed, God's Eye Games)

This episode I talk to Joe Veltre of Gods Eye Games and also the Acceptable Casualties Youtube Channel. Joe released his first ruleset Son’s of Mars around a year ago, and also talked to me about the Acceptable Casualties previously these can be found in episode 23 and 84, plus if you check out On Geeking part 3 between episode 65 and 66 you can hear Joe and I just goofing around and letting loose, if you like that sort of thing that is. In this episode Joe and I talk about his new rule set Steel & Steed which is a Medieval Knights and Tournament rule set which features jousting, mounted combat, as well as grand melee on foot and mounted, along with archery. I won’t spoil the chat by talking about it here but it was fun talking to Joe about his work, got the cogs in my brain whirring about how I could interact with it. I wish Joe all the best with the rules and hope it is a great success.

Episode 131: Colin (Dish Dash Games: Skirmish Sangin/Ultra Combat Normandy)

This episode I talk to Colin from Dish Dash Games. Colin has created a number of skirmish and small force tabletop games that have a strong narrative aspect and lend aspects from his love of RPGs. As we talk you will hear about the games but the 2 most prominently featured are Skirmish Sangin, a modern skirmish game set in Afghanistan, and Ultra Combat Normandy, a platoon sized game set in WW2. Colin was originally from England but moved to New Zealand and his experience of creating games in that area and how technology has allowed him to distribute his work is interesting to hear. As with all of the episodes it is great just to listen to someones insight and hear about their journey, especially someone who balances a full time job & a hobby that not only fulfils themselves but also benefits us all by giving us great games to play, thanks Colin and keep it up!

This week I speak to Zack Meredith about his journey into 3d sculpting, and his range of ten chibi style miniatures he uses for his RPG games. I wont spoil the journey but Zack currently has models he has made available from Thingyverse & also a Kickstarter campaign that if you are listening to close to May 17 2019 you may just be able to catch. It was interesting hearing about Zacks’ journey and insight and I really respect his attitude to create something he wanted but couldn’t find, he has a great attitude.

Episode 128: Thibaud from Triton Noir (V Commandos/Assassins Creed)

game and the upcoming Assassins Creed game. Triton Noir is a company formed by Thibaud in Montreal Canada, their first game V Commandos was kick-started & off the back of that Assassins Creed Brotherhood of Venice, which sees an evolution and refinement of the V Commandos dynamic, came to Kickstarter recently and saw over 1.3 million Canadian dollars pledged. The late pledge is open until November 2019 so I encourage you to take a look at the game if you haven’t already. Paint All The Minis is an independent entity and that is my opinion, just my opinion alone but anything I felt that was missing in V Commandos, which is fantastic by the way and you should check that out too, has been addressed by the Assassins Creed game. Thibaud came across as an intelligent, kind, open, and enthusiastic person and it is always a delight to find someone behind something you love is such a great person too. I wish Thibaud all the best in the future and I cant wait to see what he comes up with next.
